More photos and less of my shitty writing from here! Woohoo! And [almost] no more weather talk because it was finally all beautiful! After leaving the cuddly buffalos I headed down to Wounded Knee. Very somber feeling in the air there and surprisingly not touristy at all. Worth a visit if you’re into American history. Then down into Nebraska where I accidentally stumbled upon Carhenge! I knew it existed but didn’t consider visiting it.

Kinja'd!!!

From there I went west into Wyoming, over to Laramie, my old college town, and down into Colorado. I had planned on heading down I-25 and meeting up with a friend from high school but phone troubles prevented that.

So I headed over to Radium Hot Springs to camp for the night. I’m not going to lie, it was a pain to find, but it was worth it, even though I never did find the actual spring it was named for. A little more time would’ve done the trick but I couldn’t spare it.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Between Nebraska, Wyoming, and Colorado, I saw a ton of antelope. Which was a common thing when I lived in Wyoming, but that was over a decade ago!

The road to Radium was deserted and in extreme disrepair. Which also made it fun! Google and waze we both sitter confused about how to find the place. GPS coordinates were my friend here. Message if you want them.

This place was awesome. Almost no people and beautiful scenery. I went hiking for a while before finally working up the strength to leave. Stupidly, I didn’t bring my bear spray on this hike and only when I got back did I notice recently posted signs about bears in the area! But I lived. Somehow. Magically.

From there I spent the entirety of the next day meandering across Colorado, down to Cortez. Along the way I saw more beauty than I could handle, or remember! But highlights were Leadville, Sawpit and the road coming to it, lots of crumbling abandoned structures that I’m guessing were very very old.

Then there was Phil. Phil was a deckhand on super yachts. He was from England. But he quit his job. Flew over here. Bought a Husaberg 650 dual sport, and had been riding it all over in the backcountry for months! Phil is my new hero. We talked for way too long. C’ est la vie.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

I killed to much time making my way across the state and ended up getting a hotel in Cortez instead of camping at the canyon of the accidents national monument like I had originally planned. Shit happens.

Stay tuned! The best is yet to come!

Gonna have to be careful to not take most of the routes you’ve posted as of yet on my trip . The SS Honda Supertanker would not do well off pavement

That lead image is amazing.

Nice. I saw that rock wall across that canyon in your one photo- and was about to inquire where that was... But then realized it was the Ames wall just outside of Telluride..... the white streak on it forms one of the best ice climbs in north america.. Ames Ice Hose! Good stuff

But the suspension is probably super soft! So it should be fine just air down the tires a little

It’s more picking up an 800lb boat (before gear) in the woods, by myself, that concerns me...

Hmmm... with the weight of the bike, on one set of tires I might be able to make it to the Tuesday bike meetup in Beaverton almost twice!! Worth it.
